How being a Guide Dogs Puppy Pal makes a profound difference
Did you know it costs over $50,000 and takes more than two years to breed, raise and train one of our life-changing Guide Dogs? It’s a remarkable journey that our pups simply couldn’t undertake without the support of generous regular donors like you.
As a Puppy Pal for Guide Dogs NSW/ACT, your monthly contribution has an immediate and lasting impact. You help our puppies get the best possible start right from birth and every stage of their development. Your regular Guide Dogs donation supports our latest litters of puppies, pup training and enrichment equipment, kennel facilities, veterinary costs, and our expert dog training team.

Puppy Pals’ impact at a glance
Your monthly generosity helps fund our world-class Guide Dog Program and ultimately transform the lives of people with low vision or blindness. As well as deliver life-changing Therapy Dogs to the individuals and facilities who need them most.

176 puppies were born
into the loving homes of our volunteer Home Whelpers and received early development equipment and their first training jackets
155 dogs
were matched with new Handlers, including Guide Dogs, Therapy Dogs, Breeding Dogs and Ambassador Dogs.
278 Guide Dogs
working in the community, offering companionship and independence to people with low vision or blindness.
93 Therapy Dogs
matched with their new Handlers, helping individuals or facilities such as courts, schools, aged care and emergency and frontline services.

Your monthly donations can be made by automatic debits from a nominated bank account or credit card.
Yes. All Puppy Pals will receive an annual tax receipt in July each year, which will include a summary of all donations from the previous financial year.
As a Puppy Pal to a litter of our trainee Guide Dogs pups, you will receive:
- A Welcome Pack, including a magnetic photo frame.
- A scrapbook to celebrate the milestones of the pups.
- Quarterly pup-dates to follow the puppies’ journeys.
- An invitation to our exclusive Puppy Pal events.
- The opportunity to name future Guide Dog puppies.
- A cute Christmas card at the end of each year.
- A receipt of your tax-deductible gifts at the end of the financial year.
- Lots more surprises!
While you are closely following the journey of this adorable litter of pups, your donations will contribute to the Guide Dog Program as a whole, supporting all our puppies in their development. Ultimately, your generosity helps people with low vision or blindness live more confident, independent lives.

As a Puppy Pal, your contribution has an immediate impact, helping our pups get a head start right from birth. Your donations support our world-class Guide Dog Program, including:
- Training and enrichment equipment.
- Maintenance of our kennel facilities.
- Veterinary care.
- Our team of expert dog training staff.
Your Puppy Pal gift is a form of Guide Dog puppy sponsorship, helping support their growth and training every step of the way. But we understand that circumstances can change. If you would like to pause your regular donation for a period or adjust the amount you give, please call our Engagement Team on 1800 436 364. You can also cancel your monthly contribution at any time; our team is happy to help.
You can absolutely give your donation as a gift! If signing up online, please click the tick box at the end of step 2: ‘I would like to donate my Puppy Pal donation as a gift.’ Then fill in the details of the gift recipient and both you and your gift recipient will receive PUPdates about our adorable puppies.

ot every puppy will graduate as a working Guide Dog, but all puppies in the program go on to meaningful careers based on their individual strengths and temperament. Some become Therapy Dogs, Breeding Dogs or Ambassador Dogs, while others provide companionship within the community. No matter their path, your support as a Puppy Pal helps every pup reach their full potential and change lives.
